What’s in a name
Welcome to the Fernwood Neighborhood Association (FNA). Established in April 2024 through a grassroots effort of several dedicated Fernwood residents, our association is built on a shared pride in our neighborhood’s distinct identity and deep roots.
The Fernwood name carries proud historical significance as the original designation for the southwest area of Traverse City. Our founding members chose to revive this name to honor the heritage of our community. For example, what is today known as The Grand Traverse Circuit was originally the Fernwood Chapel, serving as a vital focal point for neighbors generations ago.

Association intent
The Fernwood Neighborhood Association is dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community and connection. We organize and host various events throughout the year such as block parties, holiday gatherings and celebrations. By actively engaging with our neighbors, we aim to create a safe and vibrant neighborhood where everyone feels welcome.
